Animal Care Technician (full & part time)

The Humane Society of Eastern Carolina is looking for a professional, compassionate individual willing to work hard! Animal Care Technicians are the life-blood of our organization. They take care of both cats and dogs, clean runs and kennels, administer medications (after training), and also facilitate adoptions.
 

Candidates must be willing to maintain a clean and safe work environment, be a hard worker, and be professional.

We are a small, close-knit group of individuals who work hard in often unforgiving conditions to ensure the health and safety of our animals.

 

Candidates must be:

  • 18 years of age or older

  • Have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation

  • Able to lift more than 50 pounds

  • Be able to stand for extended periods of time

  • Comfortable working in heat or cold

  • Have a flexible schedule

  • Able to work in a group and independently

  • Have good interpersonal skills

  • MUST be comfortable working with jumpy/mouthy dogs

  • MUST be willing to learn how to train dogs

 

Pay starts at $8.50/hour.

 

Shifts range from 7am to around 6 pm, with a significant break in between shifts on the weekdays. Must have open or extremely flexible availability. We are happy to work with student schedules, but you MUST have weekend availability.
