Bubbles

By Bubbles' Mom, Aaliyah

Having Bubbles (AKA Bubbas, Bubby, Bubs, Cobra Bubbles and Sudz when she’s a little naughty) has been nothing short of an adventure. After sniffing around the house and getting familiar with her surroundings, she quickly settled in. She then personally made it her mission to befriend all of our neighbors (and their dogs) and she been successful so far! Bubbles never misses a chance to show her playful and friendly personality. Starting every day with a “woo!” and a wagging tail, she’s a ball of sunshine. Her favorite things are friends, food, and fun. Her sassiness and smarts are unmatched and make her the life of the party. When she’s not napping on the couch or cuddling during movie night she’s a big ball of energy, especially during a game of fetch with her squeaky ball. She’s also working on her ninja skills by sneaking up on people by the staircase. Set to begin daycare in August/September, we look forward to her journey and are beyond grateful to have found her.

Morgan

Morgan, known affectionately as Borg, was a foster fail from HSEC in 2023. Morgan’s parents are long-time fosters for the Humane Society, but it was clear almost immediately that Morgan was going to be different. With her vibrant blue eye, resting grump face, and insistence on sitting on a barstool next to you whenever you go out, Morgan will never be described as the life of the party but is always everyone’s favorite none-the-less. Her ability to go anywhere balances out her brother Dudley's refusal to cooperate in public, making them the perfect pair.

Dallas & Frigg

Dallas (left) and Frigg are the official meet and greet committee of the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina. Adopted by our Director in 2020 and 2023, respectively, they can frequently be found sleeping on the job, begging for treats, and helping staff test dog friendliness of potential intakes. Dallas and Frigg love spending the day practicing their obedience skills and are the pride and joy of their mom Shelby and dad Corey. At home, Dallas and Frigg help keep their siblings - and numerous fosters - in line.

Zinnia

Christine and her family started volunteering and fostering in April 2023. After helping several dogs find their forever homes, one curious puppy caught their eye. Christine inquired about fostering the puppy, but employees had a different dog in mind. Here's Christine's story:

Zinnia was so scared and skittish of everyone and everything, so much so that a staff member had to carry her and put her into my car. Five minutes after arriving at my house she bonded with one of my kids and slowly started coming out of her shell. She actually started acting like a puppy, and enjoying life and we fell HARD for her!

As I would get calls about interest in Zinnia my heart would sink, but kept telling myself we cannot adopt her if my family wanted to continue fostering, which we did want to do. My kids were begging to adopt her and came up with a plan. They made a deal with me that if they posted a picture of her on TikTok, and got over 100 likes, we’d adopt her. I knew they get to 100 likes, but it was easier to go along with it rather than just saying yes!

Two years later and she’s one spoiled pup! She loves her fur siblings and is the leader of the pack, loves my kids and is very protective of them, but she’s my baby and sleeps with me at night and usually only leaves my side to excitedly welcome the kids home after school, or play with them in the yard, then she’s right back at my side.

Sienna

By Sienna's Dad, Jake

I adopted Sienna right in the middle of the 2020 as I was getting close to finishing up college. Since then she comes with me everywhere including vacations and even an extended business trip last year.

I would say by far her favorite thing to do is go on hikes, I'll take her on hikes in the mountains and she'll be sprinting up the trails while I'm just trying to keep up.

My favorite thing about her is definitely her personality, she's very outgoing and personable. My mom always says when you talk to her it's like talking to a human because she reacts so much to what you're saying.

I always described her as spunky, which I always thought was sort of a niche adjective, but multiple people that have met her use the same exact word which I've always found pretty funny.
