Lost and Found PetsIf you have LOST a pet, it is very important that you call Pitt County Animal Control right away! Animals turned into or otherwise acquired by Animal Control can be euthanized within 72 hours/3 days from when they are taken in. Animal Control keeps a list of lost pets and compares them with the pets in the facility. If a pet matching the description of your lost pet is found, then they will call you back. If your pet is found by someone, they may turn it in to their vet or call one of the other local animal organizations and report it. All of these institutions keep track of these calls and compare them with pets reported as lost. If you have FOUND a pet, then you should call and report the found pet to the places listed below. They have successfully matched up found pets with their owners in the past. We will happily post pictures of lost and found pets on our site, so please send information to hsecwebmaster@suddenlink.net. Lost or found animals will be posted for a period of two months unless we receive updated information that the pet is still missing or has not yet been claimed. For both lost and found pets, the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina will list the animal in Humane Society section of the Sunday Edition of the Greenville newspaper, The Daily Reflector. You must make the request with us by 3 pm on Wednesday in order for it to appear in the Sunday edition the same week. The Daily Reflector has generously donated this space to us, so all listings are free of charge. Here is a list of places that you should call or visit to report a LOST or FOUND pet...
