and what you should consider before adopting.
Adopting a companion is usually a 10 to 15+ year commitment. Are you
ready?

Animals can be adopted from the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina in return
for a good home, a loving family and a non-refundable donation.
The fee includes worming, heartworm testing/treatment (for
dogs), a 4 pound bag of Hill's Science Diet, one month of free Shelter
Care Pet Insurance and the spay/neuter. At the
time of adoption the animal will be up to date with vaccinations (as age
appropriate) and all our animals are spayed or neutered prior to the time
of adoption. Vaccinations do vary with the age of the animal and some
vaccinations may be required after adoption which are not included in the
adoption fee. For comparison, local vets usually charge between $90-$100
to spay a female cat - so these adoption fees are a real bargain!
